Harry Aporff, 66, of Ecorse, Mich., and Cleveland, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Cross) Nelson; stepfather, Bill Nelson; brother Arthur Aporff; and half-sister, Rosie.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was an avid pool player. He was known in pool establishments all over as “Harry The Horse.” He played the game until his health declined, but his love for pool never ceased. He probably is now playing his “9 Ball and One Pocket” games with his brother Art and cracking jokes with God. His journey through life wasn’t easy but, his sense of humor was contagious. We will sadly miss him, but know God must be smiling.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Tammy; grandchildren: Chase and Nicki, both of Michigan; brother, Al of Nevada; sister, Jane; sister-in-law, Marlene of Michigan; half sisters: Karen, Darlene, Linda and Judy, all of Cleveland; and half-brother Jerry of Michigan.

Cremation was completed by R.J. Nixon Funeral Home, Wyandotte Mich. His finally resting place will be in Cleveland, at a later date.
