Lee University is hosting a two-day residency this month for the nationally touring puppetry company Wood and Strings Theatre.

The company will be at the Dixon Center Auditorium Sept. 16 and 17 performing “Out of the Mist … A Dragon” and “Ananse! Early in the Day.”

They will also host a class in puppetry and a puppet-building workshop for the community. This program is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission.

On Sept. 16, there will be a 10 a.m. performance of “Out of the Mist” for area elementary school children.

The Master Class in puppetry for Theatre, Visual Arts, Humanities, and Education students will be offered at 1 p.m., with a second performance of “Out of the Mist” open to the public at 7 p.m.

“Ananse!” will be performed on Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. for children and at 7 p.m. for the public. At 5 p.m. the company will offer the puppet-building workshop for families.

Tickets are $5 each for the evening performances, and $3 for the puppet workshop.
