The third annual Danette Henry Memorial Ovarian Cancer golf Tournament will tee of Sept. 25 at Chatata Valley.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Danette Henry Memorial Ovarian Cancer Fund at Memorial Health Care System Foundation.

Danette Henry was a loving wife, sister, friend and dedicated professional. Henry was a Life Care of America associate for more than 24 years serving as corporate director of payroll. She was known for her gentle spirit and reaching out to others. Her battle with ovarian cancer came to a close in January 2008.

To honor her generous spirit, the third annual tournament will ensure her memory and kindness will live on in the lives of others through the Cancer Fund. The fund exists to improve the quality of life for those going through ovarian cancer treatment.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will assist the Schmissrauter Center for Cancer Support at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. The Center offers educational information on dietary counseling, stress management and other patient services. The center also offers financial assistance to patients in need of help with medications, food supplements or transportation crucial to their success in recovery.

It is estimated approximately 240 patients will be eligible beneficiaries of the Danette Henry Ovarian Cancer Fund this year.

The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. The cost for the 4-person per team event is $300 per team. All contributions are tax deductible to the full extend allowed by law.
