The driver of a car which reportedly crossed the centerline and struck a motorcycle, killing an Ohio couple, has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide. The deadly crash occurred on Highway 64 near Ducktown Wednesday morning in Polk County.

District Attorney General Steve Bebb confirmed today Ryan Ehbar, 27, has been charged and could also face DUI charges pending blood alcohol results.

Robert E. Coblentz, 59, and Michelle A. Coblentz, 57, of Wilmington, Ohio were thrown from their motorcycle after striking a small car driven by Ehbar, 27, according to a crash investigation report filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper Jimmy Bates.

Ehbar is a resident of nearby McCaysville, Ga.

Bates’ report indicated the car driven by Ehbar allegedly crossed the center line and struck the cycle head-on, ejecting the couple.

Ehbar was transported via medical helicopter to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment and later released.

He was booked at the Polk County Jail Thursday regarding the charges.
