CLEANING UP — Santek Environmental, which is headquartered in Cleveland, is adding a new service to its offerings. Santek’s affiliate Waste Services is expanding trash pickup into parts of Bradley County. Each new customer will get a new 95-gallon rolling cart as seen here, said Raymond Givens, equipment manager. He’s switching over from his old trash service to the new Santek affiliate’s Waste Services pickup service.
He lives in Ashland Woods, one of the first county areas that will receive Santek’s Waste Services’ new residential trash pickup service option.
“A lower price,” Davidson said. That was the number one reason he switched. He added, “I would also like to support a local company.”
Some residents may already have heard about Santek affiliate’s Waste Services offering new once-a-week, residential curbside trash pickup in certain parts of Bradley County. Santek just started offering service to sections of unincorporated northwest Bradley County outside of the city limits starting this month. Santek is already well-known for operating the Bradley County Landfill for the past 25 years — the company has a life-of-landfill contract — and providing trash pickup for industrial and commercial businesses in the area for 12 years. But the company can’t expand into residential city services because of the municipality’s contract with Waste Connections.
So, the company did some research and came up with a plan and discovered that Santek affiliate’s Waste Services could expand into residential services in the county where Waste Connections and other independent trash services are also currently available.
“It’s a natural fit for our company. We’re very excited for this opportunity,” said Cheryl L. Dunson, executive vice president of marketing at Santek Environmental.
The company found a new way to expand their business and offer their services to additional residents.
“We’ve analyzed the residential market,” she said. “We realized that customers needed choices. ”
Local billboards, door hangers and ads are announcing the new service. In fact, if you see people going door-to-door, roughly between 3 and 7 p.m., it’s likely they’re from Santek handing out leaflets announcing the new service and explaining a customer’s options.
“They’re just trying to get the word out,” Dunson said.
In a recent press release, the price of $21 per month was listed as the “very affordable” cost.
“With this new service, we’re committed to providing a higher quality of waste collection at a lower price,” Dunson said.
Prices may actually start lower than that stated in some areas. Also, every new customer will receive a new 95-gallon rolling cart when they sign up, helping to reduce the litter on the ground and the necessity of hauling many bags to the curb. This size cart will hold five or six full-sized garbage bags. Just call for a rate.
“Prices differ depending on where customers are located in the county.”
In addition to the expected lower cost for service, there’s also a coupon available in the Santek ad in the Cleveland Daily Banner for 50 percent off the first month’s service.
