CMS Raiders take care of Bruins on Gridiron

The Cleveland Middle School eighth-grade football team defeated the Lake Forest Bruins by a score of 48-8 Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders’ scoring attack was led by Raekwon Bunion with four touchdowns. Bunion had runs of three, 15, 48 and 55 yards. Levi Daffron and Austin Massey also had touchdown runs of eight and 35 yards each respectively. Massey also completed a pass for a 2-point conversion.

The Blue Raider “D” was led by Jordan Elam, Trey Simpson, Eric Goodwin, Isaiah Beaty, and Koran Kennedy. Kennedy led with 11 tackles. T.J. Parker had an interception for the Blue “D”.

CMS has also defeated Ocoee Middle, Rhea Central and Bagley Middle to bring their record to 4-0. Against OMS, the Blue Raiders’ defense held their rivals to only 67 yards total offense. The Blue Raiders racked up 267 yards with Bunion scoring two touchdowns.

CMS made quick work of Rhea Central on the road and won 20–0. E.J. Johnson returned the opening kickoff 65 yards to open the game. Bunion scored two touchdowns with runs of five and 85 yards. The Blue Raiders held Rhea to 186 total yards of total offense.

Win No. 3 for the CMS Blue Raiders was a waltz through Bagley Middle on the opponent’s turf. Defense was the name of the game as the Raiders picked off three passes, recovered two fumbles and held Bagley to 62 total yards of offense. Isaiah Beaty returned a punt 48 yards for a touchdown and Raekwon bunion scored three touchdowns to lead the Raiders in the 34-0 win.

The CMS Blue Raiders will play again Sept. 21 against Boyd-Buchanan at Benny Monroe Stadium. Game time is 6 p.m.
