Gladys Richards Rowell, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 14, 2010, in a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. John V. Richards and Winnie Roach Richards. She was also preceded in death April 18, 1998, by her husband, Clell Reed Rowell, to whom she had been married for 60 years; an infant daughter, Wilma Katherine Rowell, her brothers: the Rev. Davis Richards, the Rev. Marvin Richards, Clarence Richards, and Roland Richards; and her sisters: Eunice Partain, Sue Bray and Margaret Duncan.

She was an avid reader and read the Bible completely through 12 times.

She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Boyd Hughes of Cleveland; two granddaughters: Annette Sheehan and her husband, Eric, of Senoia, Ga., and Laura Ervin and her husband, Gregg, of Smyrna, Ga.; two great-grandchildren: Bo Sheehan and Jordan Sheehan; one brother, the Rev. Charles Richards and his wife, Ruth, of Hazel Green, Ala.; one sister, Hazel Hundley of Trenton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 19, 2010, at Jim Rush Funeral Homes, North Ocoee Chapel with the Rev. Jim Caywood, the Rev. Byron Edison and the Rev. Bert Jones officiating.

Graveside service and interment will be held Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from noon to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
