Although the Lady Raiders of Cleveland Middle School had eleven errors, they were able to overcome the mistakes with big hits and tough pitching to defeat Bagley Middle 18-9.

After holding the Lady Braves in the first inning, Carly Frost started the bottom of the first with a triple. After several passed balls and walks, the Lady Raiders were up 4-0.

The Braves would not give up, however, earning three runs in the second to make the score 4-3.

“We made a lot of mistakes that allowed them to score runs they shouldn’t have. Bagley was a scrappy team who would not give up.” commented Coach Nikki Matunas on Bagley coming back to make the game 10-9 in the third inning.

In the fourth inning, Courtney Marr began the hit parade for the Lady Raiders with a triple. Brittany Arnold, Kayla Lee and Graycin Walkup each singled and once again, the pitching walked several. Marr finished the game with two triples and four RBIs.

Frost was the winning pitcher allowing nine hits, walking one and striking out eight.

The Lady Raiders will play GPS Thursday at home. Game time will be 5 p.m.
