He lived in Cleveland for most of his life. He attended Eastview Baptist Church.
He had a great love of life and enjoyed making people laugh. His grandchildren held his heart strings and he will be missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Burket Ezell and Jesse Helen Thomas Ezell; and one sister, Carolyn Sandifer.
Survivors include his wife, LaWenda Ezell; children: Lisa Sylvester and Tom Ezell and wife, Lori, all of Parkersburg, W.Va., Princess Lamberth and husband, Anthony, of Cleveland, Brian Freeman of Chattanooga, Amanda Brown and husband, Jamie, of Ocoee, and Jeremy Freeman and spouse, April, of Stuttgart, Germany; grandchildren: Kealy and Tyler Sylvester, Ray and Allison Ezell, Dustin, Ashley, and Allie Ostrowski, Ashlyn and Ethan Lamberth, Tyler and Jordan Brown, and Lauryn, Makenzie, and Stanley Freeman; sister, Denise and husband, Fletcher Kelly; brother-in-law, Jim Sandifer; several nieces and nephews; the children in the community who knew him as “Granddad”; and special friend of the family Brian Minshew.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Hoyle Ellis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eastview Baptist Church Cemetery in Georgetown, with Tom Ezell, Brian Minshew, Dustin Rollins, Lee Stanfill, Doug Wooten and Kevin Soreson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Sandifer and Chris Stinnett.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
