He was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church since 1961.
He retired from the U.S. Army National Guard, after working as a heavy duty mechanic for 42 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the St. Barbara Award, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He was a member of Conasauga Masonic Lodge No. 396 and Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Anderson Miller and Nelda Ree Foster Miller; and brother, Foster Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Clabough Miller of Cleveland; daughters: Marquetta Lynn Humphrey and husband Larry, and Reenelda Jane Phillips and husband Craig, all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Clint Humphrey, Christina Humphrey and Megan Phillips; brother, Kenneth Miller of Cleveland; sister, Joann Dunn of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Joe White officiating.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
Tim Dunn, Scott Satterfield, Don Still, Josh West, Jake Broome and Brent Forshee will serve as pallbearers. Dewey Lewallen, Gene Meador, George Martel, Tommy Townsend, Jeff Fletcher and Arless Stonecipher, members of Conasauga Masonic Lodge No. 396 and DAV Chapter 25 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home followed by a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
