People with children planning to attend Friday’s football showdown between Walker Valley High School and Cleveland High School should plan to go a little early and enjoy special festivities at First Tennessee Bank.

The bank, located directly across from the CHS field on Raider Drive, will be hosting a special tailgate event designed for children, beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be face painting, a bake sale, balloons and games for the kids.

The event will continue until game time.

The Walker Valley Mustangs will be visiting the Cleveland High Blue Raiders in one of the premiere matchups in the area, and First Tennessee Bank officials thought it would be a great time to host the special event. As the bank is in the midst of its United Way campaign, officials agreed that it would also be a great time to help the local organization raise funds to help its local agencies and their recipients of services.

“We hope that those coming to the game with young children will visit us at the grassy area near the Greenway and enjoy the festivities, and help us raise funds for United Way,” said First Tennessee’s Pam Caprara, who with Adonia Latham co-chairs the bank’s United Way campaign. “We know it will be lots of fun for everyone, and a great way to get the evening started before the big game.”

There is no admission charge.
