Betty Jean Plemons Long


Today, Heaven gained the sweetest angel. Betty Jean Plemons Long, 87, went to be with Jesus.

She was born on July 26, 1935, to Jake and Frances Plemons. She was well-known and loved by all that knew her as mom, momma or mam-maw. She was the rock of her family. She was of the Baptist faith and lived by God’s Word daily. She loved gardening, anything outdoors, traveling, sewing, reading, puzzles and spending time with her family. She loved bowling, especially tournaments/leagues with her daughter, granddaughter and many bowling friends. She was a member of the Cleveland/Bradley USBC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Long; father, Jake L. Plemons; mother, Frances D. Green; brothers, Edward, Bill and Jimmy Plemons; sister, Darleen Howlington; daughter-in-law, Denise Poole; grandson, Michel Poole; great-granddaughter, Abby Burnett; and great-grandson, Easton Poole.

Left to cherish her memory, are her daughter and best friend, Cindy Poole Ogle of Cleveland; sons, Mike Poole of Springfield, Alan (Bryan) Poole of Duchesne, Utah and Scott (Sundra) of Old Fort; brother, Bobby Plemons of Ringgold, Georgia; grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, John, Peyton, Luke, Joseph and Casey; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Chandler, Deanna, Fenway, Jase, Axel, Ivory, Paislee and Cambrie; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins; and special son/daughter, Dave and Karen Thomas and Joe Gobble.

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel, with the Rev. Dave Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Anderson Cemetery in Ringgold, Georgia. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren and honorary casket bearers will be her great-grandchildren.

The family would like to say thank-you to the staff at Dr. Samir Rahbe office; Adoration Home Health and Hospice; her most favorite nurses, Brenda and Sheila; Melissa at Misty Mountain Florist; Brent Swanson and staff of Rush Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
