Bishop Larry Joseph Timmerman

Bishop Larry Joseph Timmerman, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the family residence.

Bishop Timmerman was born in Anderson, South Carolina, and he was the son of the late Ruby Jewell Scarborough Timmerman and the Rev. Floyd Joseph Timmerman. Larry was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and Lee College.

He was a retired minister with the Church of God, with 64 years of service including, serving as pastor for 20 years; serving for 12 years as administrative bishop in Southern Ohio, Rocky Mt. Region, Florida and Alabama; serving for five years as state youth and discipleship director in Mississippi; serving for two years as state evangelism director in Mississippi; serving for 10 years on the International Executive Council and serving 12 years in the International Offices for the Church of God.

His hobbies included horses and showing his quarter horses, collecting antique cars, and his collection over the years is considered amazing and he enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Timmerman of Cleveland; daughter, Debbie Sulcer (David) of Kingsport; son, Larry Joseph Timmerman Jr. of Sebastian, Florida; grandchildren, Morgan Baugher (Russell) of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Taylor Sulcer of Baltimore, Maryland, and Meredith White (Donnie) of Hampstead, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Bryce Baugher, Brooke Baugher, Paisley White and Sadie Rae White; sisters, Martha Fair (Tom) of Madisonville, and Karyn Blake of Cleveland; brother, Jerry Timmerman (Sandy) of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted at noon on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the North Cleveland Church of God, Main Sanctuary, with Pastor Mark Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Larry Joe Timmerman, Bryce Baugher, Russell Baugher, Donnie White, Taylor Sulcer, Jeremy Timmerman, Taylor Collins and Tim Smith serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday at the Main Sanctuary of the North Cleveland Church of God.

The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
