Clyde “Archie” Long, 81, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at his residence after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born on July 16, 1941, to the late Clifford Long and Ruby Moore Long. Clyde served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 134 for over 50 years and of the Baptist faith. Clyde loved camping and spending time with his family. He was a retired truck driver, where he drove for Magic Chef for 34 years.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by two siblings.
Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn Long; son, Clyde (Candice) Long II; daughter, Angela (Tim) Melton; several siblings; grandchildren, Whitney (Bradley) Davis, Maggie Towl, Lucas Long and Zackery Dyer; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Davis and Lennon Davis; best friend, Randy Coleman; his fur baby, Chole; and a host of friends.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Randy Coleman officiating. Pallbearers will be Otis, Bradley, Randy, Stacy, Tim, Mike and Zachary.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, prior to the graveside service at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland.
