Della Mae Wilson


Della Mae Wilson, 78, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021.

She was born on June 10, 1943, to the late B.W. and Maybelle Curtis.

Della enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a loving and protective mother who was well-loved by all. She was a loving and faithful follower of Jehovah. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandbaby.

In addition to her mother and father, Della was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wilson; her siblings: Kenny Curtis, Edna Pritchard, James Curtis, Cecil Harris, Bobby Curtis, and Sandra Curtis; and grandchildren: Tanda Harris Laye, Gary Wilson Jr., and Thomas Antonio Wilson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children: Gary Eugene Wilson (Quotonia), Loretta Starnes (Michael), Jo Ann Wilson, Darlene Henderson (Elliott, deceased), Marcell Tate (Bobby, deceased), Cornell Wilson (Teresa), and Jamison Wilson (Carrie); siblings: Nesby Harris, John Curtis, Carol Smith, Margaret Howell, Shirley Farmer, and Helen Curtis; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Della’s Life will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, in the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home.

The family requests that masks be worn, and social distancing practiced.

Her family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 5 p.m. She will be laid to rest following her service at Fort Hill Cemetery.
