Dickie Alford


Dickie Alford, 86, of Charleston, departed this life on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022, at a local healthcare facility.

Born on Dec. 7, 1935, to the late French and Lucille Alford, Dickie was a native and lifelong resident of Bradley County, and was retired from Bowater and the state of Tennessee, served as a constable in Bradley County, was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of Charleston United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Jane Alford; grandson, Spencer Alford; and brother, Sonny Alford.

Left behind to cherish his memory, are his children, Wesley Alford (Brenda), Lee Ann Swindle (Ray) and Gincy Brewster (John); grandchildren, Lloyd Swindle, Lauren Alford, Kala Swindle, Kile Brewster and Maxwell Brewster; great-grandchildren, Ellison and Elliott Bradford; and several extended family members and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life for Richard Lee Alford “Dickie” will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Rutledge officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour.
