Doris Janelle Chumney

Doris Janelle Chumney, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022.

She was born on April 6, 1938, in Tellico Plains. She married Gary M. Chumney, her high school sweetheart, and moved to California where he served in the U.S. Navy. They then moved back to Tellico and then to Cleveland.

Doris was the secretary of Cleveland High School from 1968 until her retirement and then joined her husband in Georgia where they ran a trucking business.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary M. Chumney; son, John Scott Chumney; parents, Johnnie and Kurt Morris; and sisters, Margaret Morris and Blanch Teague.

Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimesa and Gregory Stafford; grandchildren, Noah and Josh Stafford and Rachel Stafford Kinney; niece, Joni Teague Johnson; and nephew, Ricky Teague.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home of Cleveland.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
