Gertrude Helen Adkins, 75, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.
She was born in Erlangen, Germany, and came to the United States as a child, where she eventually settled in Etowah with her loving husband.
Gertrude had many talents and loved to sew, paint, draw, cook, shop and be surrounded by her family and dogs.
Gertrude was preceded in death by husband of 43 years, Billy Joe Adkins; mother and father, George and Gertrude Franklin; daughter, Tammy Blackstone; mother and father-in-law, George and Juanita Adkins; and sisters-in-law: Linda Sue Browning and Dorothy Collins.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Allen) Carson; son, Billy (Jennifer) Adkins; sisters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; brothers-in-law; and special friends, Jackie and Leo.
Gertrude’s family will forever cherish every memory and story, ever shared with her; she will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 at Serenity of Cleveland Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home, officiated by Tom Wickes, with the interment to follow in Cookson Creek Cemetery.
