Howard Eugene Millsaps, 85, of Sweetwater, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday morning, Feb. 5, 2023, at home.

He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church faithfully and loved the Lord and his family with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Fairweather Millsaps; and latest wife, Mary Frances Melton Millsaps; sons, Clarence and Wesley Millsaps; his parents, Lonnie and Ocie Millsaps; brother, Billy Millsaps; and sister, Geroldine Dillard.

He is survived by his son, Homer Millsaps of Sweetwater; daughters, Deborah Fowler (John) of Benton, Lisa Stiles (Michael) of Etowah, Nancy Brakefield of Rochester, New Hampshire, Patricia Fletcher of Etowah, and Carolyn Bingham (Grady) of Sweetwater; brothers, the Rev. Harrill Millsaps (Marsha) of Charleston, Junior Millsaps (Mary Etta) of Vonore, and Stanley Millsaps (Janie) of Cleveland; sisters, Virgie Eldridge of Chattanooga, and Trula Gatlin (Gale) of Cleveland; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville, with the Revs. Tony Curtis and Curtis Porter officiating. Pallbearers will include Jacob Millsaps, Zebulun Fletcher, Zackary Fletcher, Nicholas Stiles, Robbie Miller and Grady Bingham Jr.

Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Cleveland. The Rev. Harrill Millsaps will speak.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
