James Brown, 79, of Cleveland, departed this life on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Born on March 6, 1943, to the late James Kelley Jr. and Fannie Joann Stewart Brown, he was a native and lifelong resident of Bradley County and was retired after 35 years from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department. In addition to his service to our local community, he served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Isiah Jay Thompson.
Left behind to cherish his memory, are his daughters, Jennifer Evans (Jeff) and Joanna McDermott (Jeremy); grandchildren, Jeni Davis (Steven), Katy Thompson and Mychaela Massengill; great-grandchildren, Coraline, Charles, Tristan, Allison, Gio, Valentina, Gabriella and Rafael; sister, Mary Ellen Paul (Calvin); as well as several extended family and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life and Homegoing for James Franklin Brown will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, with Pastor Guinn Green officiating.
Interment will follow in New Friendship Cemetery, with honors provided by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to the funeral hour on Thursday.
