James ‘Jimmy’ Meeks Jr.

James “Jimmy” Meeks Jr., 77, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.

He was born on April 9, 1944, to the late James and Ruth Meeks.

Jimmy was an Army veteran and loved the military. He enjoyed gathering around the table with friends and family and loved a free meal or a good bargain. He loved listening to Elvis music, going on walks, camping, and fishing. He has also been going to Gatlinburg with the same group of people for over 40 years. 

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Meeks; brother, Mitchel Meeks; stepdaughters: Pam and Vickie Poole; and stepson, Mickey Poole.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jimmy Meeks (Kelly); daughter, Tonya Meeks; stepdaughter, Kim Page; sister, Shirlene Hewitt (Mickey); grandchildren: Jace Cameron Meeks, Kalyn Meeks, Destany Orr, Courtney Clark, Mickey White, Joel Millaway, David Poole, Kristie Roberts, Shannon Rodrigues, JR Page, and Hope Page; great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Meeks, Spencer Orr, Lashae Clark, and Kinzlee Clark; as well as several step-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of James’ Life will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at Companion Funeral Home, Cleveland Chapel. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. service.
