Jo Terry Maupin Evans


Jo Terry Maupin Evans, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family.

She graduated in 1960 from Bradley Central High School, then went on to attend the School of Nursing in Memphis, where she graduated in 1963.

She began her lifelong nursing career as an OR nurse at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. In 1973, she continued her diligent care of patients at Bradley Memorial Hospital, until her recent retirement at the age of 80. She was a mentor and friend to all those with whom she worked. Her hard work and loving touch helped to comfort and heal many people throughout her lengthy career.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.T. and Johnnie Maupin; and her brothers, Coach Robert Maupin and Mark Maupin.

She is survived by her children, Chuck Evans (Dana), Terri Evans and Josh Evans of Cleveland; their father/stepfather, Steve Evans; her grandchildren, Luke Evans, Meryn Evans (Ted Lackey) of Cleveland, Laura Kate Berger (Allister) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Julia Evans (Clark Joseph) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Henry Jordan of Cleveland; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Theo and Lily of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Gay Maupin of Signal Mountain; nieces, Amy and Jennifer Maupin of Grenora, North Dakota; cousin, Martha Carroll Hensley; several other cousins and those she considered family, including, Angie, Gage, Addi and Gunner Anderson; and her work family at Tennova.

A service celebrating the life of Jo Terry will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Lovingood officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
