Karen Elaine Watson Sanders, 74, of Riceville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born on Oct. 19, 1948, to the late Ernest W. Watson and Hattie G. Watson, Karen was a devoted wife and loving grandmother.

She was a member of Mineral Park Baptist Church. Karen enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Vernon Watson; and son, Samuel David Sanders.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roy T. “Tip” Sanders; daughter, Rebekah Elizabeth Jones; grandson, Tipton David Jones (Shelby); granddaughter, Katherine Anne Jones; great-grandchildren, Tiberious James Jones, Lilah Grace Jones, Garry Thomas Jones and Twila Elizabeth Shea Jones; and special adopted daughter, Nannette Burk-Ivey.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Mineral Park Baptist Church, 7134 White Oak Valley Circle in McDonald, with Pastor Ronnie Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at Colwell Baptist Church Cemetery in Epworth, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland. Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Mineral Park Baptist Church prior to the service.
