Larry Smith Sr.


On Friday, June 11, 2021, in the wee hours of the morning, Larry Smith Sr. passed from one life here on earth to the next life in heaven.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1954, to parents, Edward Bennett Smith and Angie Wyatt Smith. He was the fifth of six children: two brothers: Jerry and Bonnie Smith of Pennsylvania, Ronald Edward Smith and Angela Smith of Ohio; and three sisters: Betty and Tom Miller of Maryland, Margaret and Matthew Sergio of Pennsylvania, Joyce and Stephen Patrilli of West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda Higdon Smith; his eldest daughter, Sumiko Lee Smith of Pennsylvania; Rachel Satterfield, Angela and Christopher Smith, Larry Smith Jr., Matthew Stephen Smith; and grandchildren: Lydia Smith, Kyra, Raymond and Lilly Satterfield, Haley, Kayla, and Joshua Sullivan, Derrick Navarro, Elias, Stella, Skylar and Jahlyl Smith, all of Tennessee.

Larry devoted his life to God as a committed and baptized believer in Jesus the Christ, and to family by attending Church of the Harvest in Cleveland, for over 25 years, bringing up children and grandchildren in the Christian faith. He will be missed by many.

Family and friends may gather together at Companion Funeral Home on 2415 Georgetown Road, Cleveland,  on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a Cremation Memorial Service following at 2 p.m., where Pastor Hank Davis will officiate, followed by a reception at Big Spring Baptist Church off Wildwood Avenue in Cleveland,.
