Mariann Jacobs Dietrich

Mariann Jacobs Dietrich passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, in Cleveland.

Born on Feb. 22, 1928, to Mary Serena Rowland and Dr. Burton LeRoy Jacobs, she graduated from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. She later attended the University of Tennessee and married the late Donald Grim Dietrich on Sept. 16, 1947.

Mariann was blessed with the gift of creativity and a privileged life that few people ever realize. She lived a long and full life, filled with hobbies and interests that were numerous and eclectic. She was an officer in several historical organizations, serving as regent of the Ocoee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and as president of the Jefferson Davis Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a member of many other organizations, including the Cleveland Garden Club, the Bradley County Bar Auxiliary, the Fealty Class at Broad Street UMC, the Cleveland Bradley County Museum Guild, where she volunteered as a docent, and was a volunteer for many years at the Joy School at First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Serena Jane Jacobs Williams of Memphis and Burton Louise Jacobs Bennett of Atlanta, Georgia; son-in-law, Frederick Richard Pusch of Union City, Pennsylvania; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Anne White Dietrich of Cleveland.

Survivors include her children, Susan Jacobs Dietrich Pusch of Union City, Pennsylvania, Donald Grim Dietrich Jr., and Paul Henry Dietrich (Ann) of Cleveland; grandchildren, Brian Andrew Dietrich of Brentwood, Michael Shane Dietrich of Cleveland, Lauren Montague Pusch of Union City, Pennsylvania, Jacob Dietrich Pusch of Austin, Texas, and Elizabeth Ann Dietrich Blake of New York City; and three great-grandchildren, Leyton Donald Dietrich, Henry Declan Dietrich of Brentwood, and Keegan Jacob Kucnick of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Broad Street United Methodist Church was very dear to her, and they were very supportive of her in her final years. If you wish to contribute something in her memory, please make your donation to the church.

To honor Mariann’s final wishes, no services will be held.
