Maurice Gates, 72, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, in a Chattanooga hospital.
Born in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Edith Tanksley Gates and Lonnie Gates. He was proceded in death by his wife, Judy Gates; sisters: Freida Wilson, Millie Gamble, Janet Gates; and brother, Everette Gates.
He was retired from Allied Signal/Bendix/Honeywell with over 30 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran, who served in Vietnam. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Maurice attended the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Angie Gatlin (Will) and Erika Herron (Eddie), all of Cleveland; granddaughter, Brandi Robertson; great-grandchild, Kaiden Robertson; brothers: George Gates (Diane), Gene Gates (Dot), Benny Gates (Annalee), Lawrence Gates (Barbara), Pete Gates; brother-in-law, Mac Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Homer Roberts officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, Wildwood Chapel.
