Mildred Alice Lockhart Patterson, 92, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at the family residence.
She was born on April 12, 1930, in Etowah, to the late Tom and Liza Stewart Lockhart.
Throughout life, Mildred loved her family with her entire heart and was truly thankful for the many memories that they shared together. She was a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed canning and cooking for her family. A few of her fondest memories included patronizing at yard sales and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her, she will be deeply missed until we meet again.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her beloved husband, R.A. Patterson; siblings, Virginia (Cruiser) Smith, Beulah (Paul) Melton, Edith (Robert) Pangle, Lillian (Buck) Watson and Pauline (Paul) Casteel; and one great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Jean Killian.
Left to cherish the many memories, include her beloved children, Patsy (Ray) Peels, DeWayne (Kim) Patterson, Doyle Patterson and Ronnie (Connie) Patterson; cherished grandchildren, Kecia (Matthew) Killian, Scott Moody and fiancée, Sara MacPherson, and Jamie (Jeri Ann) Moody; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, with Pastor Terry Webb officiating.
Interment will follow at Delano Cemetery with Billy Ray Howard, Ray Peels, Troy Shelton, Jamie Moody, Matthew Killian, Ronnie Patterson, Ricky Creekmore and Scott Moody serving as pallbearers.
Family and friends will gather from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
