Robert George Jayne

Posted

Robert George Jayne, of Seymour, formerly a resident of Cleveland, slipped peacefully into Heaven on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, surrounded by his three beloved daughters and family.

Robert was a vibrant 82-year-old. He was known as “Pappy” or “Papaw” by most everyone he met. His great-grandkids liked to call him Papaw Robert Jayne. He was deeply loved by his family and those that he has moved with his kindness, wit and humor.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, George E. Jayne; his mother, Esther Jayne; brothers and sisters, Richard Jayne, David Jayne, Eloise Shaner, Arlene Williams, Irving Jayne, Audrey Bell and Pat Hall; and his son-in-law, Glenn Triplett.

He is survived by his children, Lesley Triplett, Rebecca Vaughn (James Vaughn) and Valerie Cunningham (Greg Cunningham); his most prized possessions, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan Triplett, Mandy Veasey, Amber James (Eric James), Jessica Terry (Josh Terry), Ashley Cunningham, Bonnie Smith (Darren Smith), Adrian Vaughn, Landon Finley, Hayden James and Oliver James; sisters, Caroline Merritt of Dundee, New York, and Velma Silliman of Penn Yan, New York. We would like to make a special mention to De Lamb, Chuck Finley, Lucas Holder and Daxton Holder, whom he loved as his own grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“Pappy” found his purpose in life through providing joy and so many laughs to the people he loved. His riches in life were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the love he constantly poured into them. He will be greatly missed by all whose hearts he has touched.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, and from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home, 2415 N. Ocoee St., Cleveland, TN 37311.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Sears officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Greg Cunningham, Chuck Finley, Lucas Holder, Eric James, De Lamb and Josh Terry proudly serving as pallbearers.
