RV Herd, 88, of Cleveland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022.
He was born in Baxter, though he lived in Tampa, Florida, and Cleveland for much of his adult life. RV was a beloved father, husband, brother, friend, grandfather and great-grandfather. He prayerfully lived his life for his family and for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
RV could be described as wise, slow to speak and quietly thoughtful. He was an avid sports fan — his favorites being golf and baseball. RV coached both Little League and Senior League teams for several years, winning many championships. He was a talented musician and songwriter, owning the copyrights to seven original Christian songs. He was an accountant by trade, a Realtor and a broker on the side. He was loved for his sense of humor and his unwavering care for his family. RV Herd was a good man.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leah Miller Herd; father, Baxter Herd; mother, Millie Herd; sisters, Eva Herd and Elene Herd; and brothers, Roy Herd and Aaron Herd.
He is survived by his brothers, Corbit Herd and O’Neil Herd; wife, Nadine Herd; daughters, Cheryl Bothe and Sandra Barringer; son, Robin Herd; stepdaughters, Sheila Elwin Loga and Debbie Law; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial Celebration of RV’s Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at the North Cleveland Church of God, Dixon Chapel, in Cleveland.
You are invited to share a personal memory of RV or your condolences with his family at his online memorial at www.companionfunerals.com.
