On Monday, June 14, the Col. Benjamin Cleveland Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented a Flag Day program for the residents of Garden Plaza at Cleveland.
The Chapter Color Guard presented the Colors, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by chapter member and master of ceremony, Claude Hardison.
Hardison noted Flag Day was unofficially started by a schoolteacher, Benard J. Cigrand, at his Stony Hill School in Waubeka, Wisconsin. On May 30, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson established a National Flag Day to be observed on June 14 of each year.
