She was a dorm mother, taught Nancy Taylor charm courses and later became treasurer of Steed College in Johnson City.
Later in her life, she became a licensed aesthetician and cosmetologist, owning two full-service beauty salon/spas with her children until she retired; one in Old Town, Alexandria, Va., and the other in Cleveland.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Byers; and her parents, Carlos and Mollie Steed.
She is survived by her children: Becky Byers Davis, Charlie Byers and wife, Denise, David Byers and wife, Lisa, and Cary Byers; her brother, Howard Steed and wife, Allison; her grandchildren: Jordan Davis Vecchio and husband, Steven, Timothy Davis and wife, Gabby, Chad Byers and wife, Alicia, Drew Byers and wife, Jessica, Cameron Byers, and Kirsten Byers; and her great-grandchildren: Kennedy Vecchio, Connor Vecchio, Bailey Byers and Barrett Byers.
