Swante Matt ‘Swany’ Holappa

Swante Matt “Swany” Holappa, 71, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2021, in a Cleveland hospital.

He was a resident of Decatur. Swany was born in Minnesota on July 26, 1950.

Swany is dearly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Bea Holappa; his son and best friend, Heath Holappa; selfless daughter-in-law, Annette Holappa; his adoring daughter, Britt Baker; son-in-law, Matt Baker; and the one who filled his soul and bound his heart, granddaughter Izzy Bay Baker.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home, 400 S. White St.

The family would like to say a special thank-you to Dr. John Jaggers and the medical ICU staff at Tennova of Cleveland.
