Ulyess Harris

Ulyess Harris, 91, a lifelong resident of Cleveland and Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at a local healthcare facility.

Born on May 20, 1931, to the late Will and Margaret Cofer Harris, Ulyess was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved hunting, gardening and the Tennessee Vols.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Harris; daughters, Melody Harris Costa (Mario) and Rebekah Harris Whitaker (Sam); stepson, Richard Taber (Laura); grandchildren, Spring McClure, Matt McClure, Justin McClure, Bobby Taber and Jennifer Taber; and great-grandchildren, Riley McClure, Kalix McClure, Cora McClure and Kalel McClure.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at Stanfield Baptist Church with Pastors Mike Ryder and David Evans officiating.

Burial will be held at Stanfield Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Billy Graham Ministries.
