Ulyss James Calfee

Ulyss James Calfee, 90, of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023.

He was born on March 27, 1932, to the late Urbane Calfee and Tillie Goins Calfee. Ulyss was a hardworking dairy farmer by trade. He also served as the chairman of the Ambulance Service Board for 20 years and was a former Bradley County commissioner. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved his family dearly.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Ramsey; two grandchildren, Ryan Ramsey and Melissa Ramsey; sisters, Willystene Calfee and Irene Gaddis; and brothers, Allen Calfee and Albert Calfee.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 70 years, Bonnie Calfee; son, Randall Calfee; sister, Helen Calfee; granddaughters, Heather Cox and Christie Brown; and great-grandchildren, Kendrick Cox, Kaylyn Cox and Ashley Brown.

Ulyss’ family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at Companion Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Kendrick Cox, Dominique Cox, Allen Calfee Jr., Dewyane Calfee, Brian Gentry and Danny Lawson will serve as pallbearers.
