Willis Holt, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at the family residence.
Willis was born in Cleveland and he was the son of the late Thelma Calfee Holt and John Paul Holt. His brother, Owen Holt, and his mother- and father-in-law, Hazel Chancey McClure and Marvin McClure, also preceded him in death.
Willis was a 1958 graduate of Bradley Central High School and then he attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was married to his wife, Martha, for 62 years and during that time, they worked together side by side to build a flourishing flower shop, "Flowers by Martha." He was an avid outdoorsman and he was a licensed pilot. Willis was a master of numbers and loved to tinker with anything. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix or try to fix.
After retiring, He and Martha enjoyed driving private coaches for Lee University, Judy Jacobs, Malone and Mashburn busing. He loved traveling and being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and teaching them to fish. He led his family in their walks with Christ. He was known for his sense of humor and being a big prankster. He loved to laugh and make people laugh. He was at his happiest, when he was surrounded by his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, Boppa and friend. Willis was a member of the Peerless Road Church, where he enjoyed playing the trombone.
Survivors include his wife, Martha McClure Holt of Cleveland; daughters, Ginger Miolen (William) and Jeannie Ledford (Jimmy) of Cleveland; son, Roger Holt of Cleveland; grandchildren, Taylor Miolen (Renae), Kaylee Burton (Trent), Maggie Miolen, Ethan Greenway and Jonas Ledford; great-grandchildren, Bristol Burton and Luke Miolen; and other extended family.
